Political gamesmanship accomplishes nothing

Much like hockey, politics are highly adversarial in nature.
Politicians assemble teams based on their personal beliefs, choose a captain to lead them, then duke it out in arena of public opinion (with words, rather than fists) in hopes of getting enough support from the electorate to form government.
